Aloha Kākou!

We highly encourage you to join the Schoolʻs Community Council Meeting on Tuesday, December 1st at 6:00p (meeting link to follow!). The SCC needs to hear your personal experiences in what is working well to improve student achievement and Hawaiian world view as well as any suggestions to facilitate ongoing growth for our haumana. E hoʻomaupopo i ka lā!

What is a School Community Council (SCC)?

Per the Hawaiʻi DOE, SCCs are statutorily created forums that are part of the leadership structure at each school.  SCCs play a vital role in Hawaii's education system and are important forums for exchanging ideas about how to improve student achievement among the school's stakeholders:  principals, teachers, school staff, parents, students, and community members.  Each school has one.  SCCs help to craft the school's Academic Plan and Financial Plan, which establish the goals and programs for the school, and the available resources.

For more information about the purpose and function of the SCC, visit http://www.hawaiipublicschools.org/ConnectWithUs/GetInvolved/SCCs/Pages/default.aspx.

How can I  get involved?

Parents are encouraged to get involved by filling SCC vacancies when positions open, attend SCC meetings or read the minutes if not able to attend, participate at the Community Meetings and encourage fellow parents to come as well, and, last but not least, reach out to Pū'ōhala SCC if there is ever manaʻo that you would like to share with the council.

How can I contact the Pū'ōhala SCC?

If parents have any questions about or comments that they would like to share with the Pū'ōhala SCC, they can contact the SCC directly at SCCPuohala@gmail.com or me at daylinrose.heather@gmail.com.   All feedback is welcome!

Ke Aloha
